Dr Simon Damkjaer is a Research Fellow on the ESRC-GCRF funded project Water and Waste within the School of Geography and Environmental Science at the University of Southampton, where he will provide general support to the research of the Water and Waste team in addition to the collection, management, and archiving of data.
Simon has an interdisciplinary background that focuses on bringing together physical sciences, environmental policy and law to better understand the interlinkages between practical international development, human ecology and water resources management in all matters related to safe water access in semi-arid regions. Since 2006, Simon has been engaged with work and research on water and environmental sustainability in sub-Saharan Africa, having acquired practical field experience through collaborations with Universities, Governments, Development Agencies and NGOs across Ghana, Mali, Tanzania, Uganda and Zambia.
